This is a problem that really bothers me. There are so many ways that they are being catered to. The schools provide translators, they have to learn english in class (slowing down the teachers and other students progress), they are given health care our own citizens are denied and stealing identities.
There are so many down here, I am starting to wonder if my great-grandchildren will be speaking spanish instead of english!!! It feels like an invasion and it makes me mad to see them waiting in the parking lots of stores that cater to them, to be picked up to work "cash under the table". They are stealing from us and not following the law. We couldn't go to another country and expect to disobey the laws and find a reward for it. Why shouldn't they be brought to justice? It was their decision to break the law willingly. If their children suffer by being removed from school and sent back to their parents homeland, that is the parents fault. They made the decisions and must face the consequences of their actions.
Americans have pulled together before to keep this country going in times of war (food rations, gas rations, victory gardens, etc...). It may be our turn to pull together like our grandparents and great-grandparents did to hold onto our values and livelyhood.

Employers to Fire Illegals
by skeeter1 inemployers check potential employees documents (social security card, etc) when hiring a new person.
illegals use bad social security & other documents.
many times, it is stolen information.. employers get a "no match" letter.

Omg! You poor dear! God's people will suffer unjustly for righteousness sake!
Did you have the most tatoos of anyone there? I am so sorry you had such a terrible experience. I too believe you lead a life that has no room for boredom! I am also very glad you have so many family here that you know care about you.
LOL at Mouthy! Should've called Granny! Her little boys and girls can do no wrong in her loving eyes! She probably would have brought a rolling pin to knock anyone out who disagreed with her! She is too cute! I loved her post to you!

Lurking has its faults
by RisingEagle ini've been researching prior postings gathering info but mostly reading because i've been 'out' for almost 14 years.
i still have numerous relatives that are still 'in' and when we get together those still in seem to get a sort of kick out of discussing super double secret goings on with 'new light' and changes in the cult.
it's been fun to be able to say, "oh you mean the change in length of the sunday talk?

Let's make JW-friendly greeting cards...
by exwitless indid you ever think about the fact that when you were a dub, it was pointless to buy a box of all occasion greeting cards?
it annoyed the heck out of me, because you couldn't use the ones for birthdays or most of the sympathy cards (because they often said "lord" or "god" in them).
so what would a box of jw greeting cards contain?.

exwitless,
That is hilarious! I so remember feeling that way. There would be the cutest cards, but by the time you figured the price after throwing away the ones forbidden, it was ridiculous!
I love the ones you came up with. I think you are very funny! Don't sell yourself short, you are very witty! I can't think of anything myself right now, I have 4 kids running around the house and can't hardly think to type straight! Oh I got one:
For the one accepted to Bethel: Congratulations on your new job! Isn't it great to move down several tax brackets? -

Michigan is beautiful. There are so many places to go and you are never more than 5 miles (I think that's the statistic) from water!
We were born and raised there. The winters of late have been cold. Very bitter cold, strong winds and not enough snow to be sure of a good a ski trip. At least that was what it was like about 3 or 4 winters ago. We have moved south since. If you retire there, set aside enough for your heating bill!!!!
Right now the economy is dismal, and many are losing their homes. The one we just sold, was forclosed upon since and the realty agent told me it sold for less than 1/2 of what we sold it for! Got out of there just in time!
Last summer, almost 1/2 of the homes on Lake Huron we drove past from Port Huron and south were for sale. I am not kidding when I say 1/2 of them were for sale. We were flabbergasted! If you are seriously thinking of moving north, now might be the time to shop for your new place! The Lake Michigan side gets a lot of tourism though, so I don't have any idea what the market is like there right now. It is beautiful. Have you been to Mackinaw Island yet? You simply must go and bike around it if you can! I love the island. Frankenmuth is also a wonderful tourist town. It is called Michigan's Little Bavaria. It is also home to the U.S. largest christmas store, Bronner's.
The fishing is great too. I swear there is no better smell than getting close to the lakes and smelling them before you see them. (The moisure in the air alerts your senses to the water). I wish we had more time when we go back!
Thanks for the stroll through my home state! -

So then, brothers, we can see by the guidance of "mother" here, that Brother Russell and the "Bible Students" were in serious and grave error and danger in their endeavors to search the scriptures together in small groups.
We can see how this was not the way God wanted his word handled. Jesus words must not be taken literally when he said, "wherever 2 or 3 are gathered together, there I am in their midst". What he really meant was a figurative meaning of the numbers 2 and 3, not a literal count of persons. It is clearly a reference to the governing body, who being present as "christ", are leading the congregations at the district assembly this year. The title "Follow the Christ" shows Jehovah's blessing on this arrangement and his approval of the lead being taken by our dear brothers at the headquarters. Please remember, taking Christ's words literally, would mean God's Spirit can accomplish we deem impossible, therby putting Jehovah to the test and showing ourselves to be desirous of independence from the "table of Jehovan" and the "healthful teachings" we acquire there. To be absent from that table would imply we are instead ready to feast upon the "table of demons". Such an independent attitude would be dangerous indeed.
Can you say that without puking? -

I treated the kids to a spa day at home this morning! They are 8 (girl) and 6 (boy).
They got back and foot massages which the 6 year old giggled and laughed through! I put cucumbers on their eyes, and he asked if he could eat them instead. Oh alright. Then he asked for ranch dressing to dip it in. I said "this is a spa, not a restaurant" as he giggled while I gave him a foot massage.
We also have a massage pad you place in a chair. So they each got to sit in that in the recliner while they listened to a gentle rainfall cd and the tabletop waterfall. Very relaxing.
Mama was tired, so next they got a bubble bath (in swimwear) with foaming soap, and candlelight. Our girl (8) wanted a fruit plate too, just like on the commercials. So they got a snack plate and a water with a twist of lemon. They had so much fun! They are now watching a movie and having a totally relaxing day, while I catch up here!
Just thought I'd share a cute moment with you all. It was so funny to see their different responses to it. The little guy giggled the whole time and our girl absolutely loved it. She says it's her best day ever.
What are you doing the last bit of summer to make those special memories? We also went to chuck e cheese and the local beach. It seems like summer has flown by.
